SURVEY: Is a JWN members post count a reasonable indicator of their theist/atheist position? If so what can be learned from that?
by nicolaou ini've done no research on this but i suspect that a members belief or absence of belief in god may have some correspondence with the number of posts he or she has made.. my tentative suggestion is that members with fewer than 500 posts are mostly believers while members with more than 3000 posts are mostly non-believers.
of course there are exceptions, maybe quite a few, but i'm only dealing with generalities here.
so how about a survey?

Every study article is an exercise in the BITE method
by Mickey mouse in10-20 years ago you would get a mix of different types of wt study articles.
they generally fell into one of a number of categories: prophecy, bible characters, facets of the fruitages of the holy spirit, aspects of jehovah's personality, creation, the new system etc.. now it goes like this:.
obey the faithful slave, stay of the internet, do more, obey the faithful slave, stay of the internet, do more.....rinse and repeat.. it's no wonder the dubs have all become brain dead.

Yes, I agree sizemik and Mad Sweeney - it will backfire. I think it shows that they know they're on the ropes and losing control. Their response is to tighten the grip and I think this approach will continue until they've shaken out all the dead wood from the ranks.

Buried my father today
by littlerockguy ini mostly post fluff and music posts on this thread more often now but just thought i would let some people here who still know me about what has been goin on with me recently.
my dad about a 7 month battle with lung cancer which metastasized to the bones and he died early wed morning.
my dad was a fascinating man, complex, sometimes open and sometimes a very aloof and detached person.

Sorry for your loss LRG.
Thank you for telling us about your dad; people are as complex as they are fascinating.

That was very powerful. I believe that having children was a strong factor in my awakening.
What a shower of bastards the Watchtower leadership is.

I just finished watching part 2 of Faith in Action DVD....I'm in complete shock!
by Joliette inthat was the biggest piece of propaganda garbage that i ever seen in my life !!!!!!!
in literally all 28 years of my life!!!!!!!.
i dont want to spoil it for anyone, so i wont mention what they didnt mention...but basically, they made themselves look like victims.. but of course, they did mention persecution, the new world translation of the holy scriptures(because jehovah's name had cruelly been taking out of the bible by the corrupt religious leaders), and the biblically based arrangement of the governing body.. i'm in utter shock .

Did they not mention 1975 or the great apostasy of 1980?

a tad naive-sounding for someone with a background in it, i know, but it's taken me this long just to feel comfortable enough to type 'jw' into google.

Music-related jw urban myths
by rebel8 ini was researching a few....whew...did they ever bother to *think for themselves* or did they just believe every demon-related rumor they heard?
(rhetorical question).
stevie nicks was a witch.

How weird, we heard the same rumour here in the UK, only it was the Eurythmics, and that they wanted to contact demons but Witnesses were "stopping the messages coming through."
I heard the same thing Faundy and actually threw away an Annie Lennox tape.
I heard all the ACDC/KISS rumours.
